Salina, KS, (April 28, 2022) – Since this past April 4, the Salina Regional Airport’s primary Runway 17/35 was shut down for resurfacing of the north 4,800 ft. Runway 17/35 was reopened at 1:45p.m. (local) on April 28, 2022.
The project engineering firm was Jviation, a Woolpert Company. Paving contractor was APAC-Kansas Shears Division, Salina Branch. Marking and striping contractor was Cillessen & Sons, Inc., Kechi, KS.
The $1,782,887 project was funded in part by an Economic Development Program grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation. The rehabilitation included milling 2.5” of the existing runway and overlaying new asphalt. The KDOT grant enables the Salina Airport to host multiple flight test, federal agency, civilian and military aviation events during 2022. The total direct economic impact of all events exceeds $7 million.
